Biography

Cheryl Pounder made her Olympic debut at Salt Lake City 2002 where she and Team Canada captured the gold medal. Pounder returned to the Olympic Games at Turin 2006 where she contributed four points (two goals, two assists) over five games en route to her second Olympic gold.

A member of the women’s national program from 1994 to 2007, Pounder appeared in seven IIHF World Championships  where she won gold six times (1994, 1999-2001, 2004, 2007) to go with a silver in 2005. At the world championships, Pounder totaled 16 points in 35 games.

Pounder played collegiate hockey at Wilfrid Laurier University from 1995 to 1999. She was inducted to the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 2012 with her teammates from the Turin 2006 Olympic hockey team.
